Job Description
The Oakville Soccer Club, founded in 1972, is one of the largest amateur soccer clubs in Canada with over 19,000 participants annually. Based at the Pine Glen Soccer Centre, a 100,000 square foot indoor soccer facility in North Oakville, the Club provides year-round recreational and competitive programming for both youth and adults.
Proudly working with over 1,200 volunteer and professional coaches each year, the Club strives to promote a culture of development, inclusivity and positivity. A consistent leader within amateur soccer and sport, OSC is an active member of Ontario Soccer and the provincial soccer community and is a Canada Soccer National Youth Club Licence holder.
High-Performance Manager
The High-Performance Manager will be responsible for the Club’s technical investment in its player base at the OPDL and L1O levels, with a particular emphasis on youth player development (through stages Train-to-Train, Training-to-Compete and Training-to-Win).
Reporting to the Senior Technical Director, the position will manage the Club’s High Performance programs and will directly support player development, coach development and match official development through the Technical Development Plan and Strategic Plan. It should be noted that this position requires strong on-field, staff management and administrative capabilities.
Job Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Actively develop and promote the evolving technical vision and philosophy in accordance with the Club’s Strategic and Technical Development Plans
- Manage all aspects of the Club’s High-Performance Programs (OPDL, L10 Reserve, etc.) including coach recruitment and development, player development and relationships between the Clubs competitive programs
- Encourage growth and retention of Female coaches through specially designed mentorship
- Maintain the highest level of Coach Certifications to ensure that OSC has a High-Performance Manager who meets all standards on and off the field
- Perform coaching duties within all programs of the Club as needed.
- Liaise with Peel-Halton Soccer Association, Ontario Soccer, Canada Soccer and other league and governing bodies to develop an optimal player development pathway for the Club’s player base.
Technical Program Development & Club Involvement
- Build on the Club’s existing programming to create an annual development program for the Club’s top talent.
- Assist with the structured, program-wide player evaluation and other program quality management initiatives.
- Build partnerships with external service providers to create a fully integrated on-field and off-field player development program. Examples: sports science, sports performance, mental performance coaching, and video & game analysis.
- Establish and facilitate an annual summer camp option for the Club’s competitive player base.
- Actively participate in all OSC signature events across all programs and initiatives
- Consistently support all departments with initiatives that work to fulfill the mission and vision of the Club
- Positively represent the Club and OSC’s brand at all times
- Other duties as assigned
Post-Secondary Opportunity Management
- Create and manage a pathway program for players moving on to post secondary playing opportunities inclusive of education components for players and parents.
- Create an annual schedule including tournaments, ID camps, training, and budgets.
- Support and assist players with the creation of their highlight videos.
- Facilitate partnerships with post secondary schools and their coaching staff on behalf of the Club.
Qualifications
- Minimum Canada Soccer A Coaching License (equivalent recognized by CS)
- Canadian Youth and Children’s License preferred
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in a management role
- Minimum 5 years coaching experience within High Performance Programs
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Proficient with various forms of technology
The successful applicant for this position will be required to work non-traditional work hours consisting predominantly of evenings and weekends and will be required to provide an up-to-date Vulnerable Screening check. The compensation range for this position is commensurate with experience between $55,000 – $70,000 annually and is accompanied by an attractive benefits and vacation package.
