Role: Strength and Conditioning Internship

Location: Play Performance – Oxford Falls, Northern Beaches of Sydney, NSW

Brief Description of Position
This internship position is an opportunity to participate in an 8-week strength and conditioning/sport science internship with a private Strength and Conditioning facility working with a range of sports and athletes from an amateur to a professional international level.

The internship will require:

  • 10-15 hours of face-to-face learning with flexible hours and a compulsory.
  • 1-2h educational seminar every Monday afternoon.

Supervised and mentored practical experience will include one-on-one, small group, and team environment settings. This is an unpaid role with the benefits of observing and developing skills in areas of coaching, program design and implementation, performance testing, data collection and analysis, as well as injury risk management and end stage rehabilitation. 

 

About Play Performance High-Performance Facility

Play Performance is a private strength and conditioning facility located in the Northern Beaches of Sydney, NSW. They specialise in improving athlete performance, reducing injury risk, and aiding in athlete recovery through evidence-based systems. Their goal is to provide an individualised professional model to athletes of any level and to help bridge the gap between amateur and professional sport.

Qualifications required and/or Desirable

  • Desirable that the applicant holds or is currently working towards completing an ASCA level 1 S&C Coaching Accreditation or undergraduate in exercise sport science
  • Desirable that the applicant has previous coaching experience preferably in a strength and conditioning environment.

Duties and Responsibilities
Observation, learning, training and skill development for athletes and teams in the areas of:

  • Setting up and organisation of sessions
  • Performance testing, data analysis, and reporting using the latest sport science technology
  • Strength and Conditioning programming and use of online software such as Teambuilder
  • Coaching and Communication
  • Injury prevention and management
  • Recovery principles

The ideal candidates will be motivated and enthusiastic individuals that are eager to pursue a career as strength and conditioning coaches. Applicants must be accountable and reliable, with good time management, as well as effective with their communication.

Commencement Date
The Internship will begin on the Monday 6 March and run for 8 weeks with breaks during the Easter Public Holiday and ANZAC day Period.
